Power Minister Opens DC Gold Cup Football Tournament in Sirajganj

The DC Gold Cup Football Tournament 2026 was officially inaugurated in Sirajganj on Sunday (November 8) amidst festive enthusiasm.

Iqbal Hasan Mahmud Tuku, Minister for Power, Energy, and Mineral Resources of the Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh, launched the event as the chief guest.

Speaking at the inaugural ceremony, the Minister praised Prime Minister Tarique Rahman for his timely decisions and multifaceted initiatives across various sectors, including sports.

"Sports play a vital role in keeping the youth physically and mentally fit, while steering them away from drugs and crime," the Minister remarked. He emphasized that organizing such tournaments is essential to reviving the lost heritage of Bangladeshi football.

The commencement of the DC Gold Cup generated immense excitement among local players and sports enthusiasts. Tournament organizers expressed optimism that the competition would unearth new sporting talent at the grassroots level and further enrich the district’s sports landscape.
